Fluoride Free Toothpaste Brands
Back in the 1900’s, people used to think Fluoride was great for your teeth, so why look for Fluoride Free Toothpaste Brands.
Unfortunately, that opinion seems to still have roots in today’s society as many drinking water sources in the United States still insert fluoride into your drinking water.
But, here are some reasons you might want to avoid fluoride including fluoride in your toothpaste:
- Significantly lower IQ in children
- Increased lead absorption in children
- Adverse affects on the pineal gland
- Increases arthritis symptoms
- Collagen deficiencies in bone, tendon, muscle, skin, cartilage, lungs, kidney and trachea
- Hyperactivity and/or lethargy
- Muscle disorders
- Osteosarcoma (bone cancer)
- Inhibits thyroid function
- Bone fractures
- Increased tumor and cancer rate
- Disrupted immune system
- Fertility issues with men
With many parts of the United States still putting fluoride into your drinking water, you not only are exposed to the side effects of fluoride, you are really overexposed.
Am I Exposed?
One way to find out if you are over exposed to fluoride is to look it up HERE.
If you are unfortunate enough to live in one of the communities that still follows this barbaric practice, there are things you can do.
You can become involved in your community and try to pass legislation to force your water company to stop inserting fluoride.
But, this can be time consuming and difficult for those that barely have enough time to work a job that puts food on your table.
So, if you aren’t flush with that sort of time or talent for community service, other alternatives are to purchase a water filter or purchase fluoride free toothpaste.
At the very least, you can make sure you are choosing one of many fluoride free toothpaste brands to keep from piling on the poison.

One controversial ingredient in this toothpaste is SLS, or Sodium lauryl sulfate. We would typically avoid recommending a product with SLS.
However, Tom’s of Maine has done quite a bit of research into this (you can read here).
Most of the issues associated with SLS have to do with leaving it on your skin and it becoming a skin irritant. This article discusses SLS in general and mentions the skin issues.
From what we have found, the SLS amounts are limited. And, since you won’t be leaving it on your skin, Tom’s assures us that it isn’t a problem.

Many commented on how the taste of this toothpaste was “unique”. Some thought the taste was strange at first, but then grew (quickly) to really enjoy the flavor.

What Kind of Water Filter is Best?
Now that we know that we have this poison in our water, how can we remove it? The easiest answer is a water filter.
However, not all water filter types remove fluoride. Here are the types of water filters you should be looking for:
- Reverse osmosis
- Deionizers (with ion-exchange resins)
- Activated alumina
So, let’s look at the best of the best for each of these types of water filters.
If you are looking to protect your family or yourself, this is the best product you can choose.
Reverse osmosis is a procedure whereby the water is pressurized through a membrane that is so fine that it filters out only the purest water.
The result removes larger molecules and ions, and allows only the smaller H2O molecules to pass through.
While the price may seem steep, what might the price be if you or your family end up at the doctor with any of those issues listed above.
This machine is made in the USA, and removes up to 99% of contaminants including these dangerous contaminants and 1000+ other contaminants:
- Heavy metals
Our research found that deionizers can also do a fine job of cleansing your drinking water of dangerous contaminants.
However, the expense of these types of water filters was so much higher than reverse osmosis water filters. And, there were not any measured improvements that warranted spending that much more.
Some of these types of water filters approached $1000.
We found several activated alumina filters while researching this topic.
Unfortunately, the activated alumina filters we found only reduced fluoride content. It didn’t completely remove fluoride.
The prices for those filters was more reasonable. However, we felt they just didn’t do the job well enough to recommend any of them.
