Who makes Chewable Toothpaste?
We didn’t find any exceptional products that could represent as the Best Chewable Toothpaste.
However, we did find an alternative dry toothpaste that is powder instead of a tablet.
We feel this powder product is significantly better than any of the chewable toothpaste products. And, with it being a dry product, it provides many of the same benefits.
Do You Want the BEST Dry Alternative for Chewable Toothpaste?
If you don’t know what chewable toothpaste is, we’ll talk a little bit more about them here.
There is also a new product that is kind of an advancement in this space. The product is called Poppits and the inventors of Poppits were on the Today show giving it some pre-launch marketing.
The advancement with Poppits is that the tablets are tiny liquid pouches. This actually takes away some of the benefits that tablets provide (if they burst they will still get on your clothes; although, to a much smaller degree).
But, provide these Poppits eliminate the chewing step. Well, eliminate might be too strong. How about reduce the chewing step to one chew. So, with this advancement, you get to brushing a little faster.
What is Chewable Toothpaste?
We’ve been running this site for several years now. So, when we recently heard about chewable toothpaste, we were naturally curious.
Part of that natural curiosity is that we try to maintain the definitive list of every way to whiten your teeth on our Dazzling White Teeth HQ home page.
But, we were also curious because of the word tablets.
I mean, how does that work?
- Do I put a tablet onto my toothbrush and brush?
- Is there even a toothbrush involved?
- Do I chew my teeth clean?
- Why would anyone take the time to even think about inventing tablets?
- What possible benefits could there be?
Well, it turns out there are answers to all of these questions, and some of them turn out provide a nice alternative to a traditional toothpaste.
So, let go about answering each of these questions.
Do I Put a Tablet onto my Toothbrush and Brush?
The way this chewable toothpaste works is that you chew them up, and they basically become toothpaste in your mouth.
So, you ask, why would I want to spend that extra time doing that?
Turns out there are a couple of reasons. First one is the convenience of being able to travel easily with them.
Airport security is much more tolerant about physical dry tablets than something in a tube. So, you don’t have to worry about going out and buying a special small tube just so the airport security guards aren’t tempted to pull you aside and give you the deep search.
Also, you won’t have to toss out your toothpaste if you accidentally forgot that the full size tube isn’t allowed.
Another reason is that tablets are just much less messy than a tube.
When travelling your baggage is thrown around a lot during its trip. It is also shoved and pushed and squeezed into tight spaces.
If your tube of toothpaste ends up being jostled about and ends up between your hard shoes and the side of the bag, a little pressure just might cause the tube top to fly off, or the tube itself to be punctured.
I don’t know if something like that has happened to you before, but it really SUCKS to get to a far away city, only to find out that half of your clothes have been stained with toothpaste.
With tablets, that’s not a problem because they are dry and won’t get on your clothes even if they somehow escape from their bottle.
Is There Even a Toothbrush Involved?
Like I mentioned above, you first chew. And, then your saliva mixed together with the tablet and becomes the toothpaste.
Do I Chew my Teeth Clean?
No… And, Yes!
No, you use your toothbrush.
But yes, you chew to convert the tablet into teeth cleaning toothpaste.
The other part of Yes that isn’t as obvious, is that when you chew your food, the food gets into the cracks and crevices of your teeth.
By using the same chewing motion that you use to chew your food, you end up getting the tablet and the converted chewable toothpaste into those same cracks and crevices.
So, when you brush the chewed tablets away, they have infiltrated the same places that your food has infiltrated.
Why Would Anyone Take the Time to Even Think about Inventing Tablets?
It is obvious to me (now that I’ve researched a little), that there are some clear benefits to using the best chewable toothpaste.
We’ve talked about several of them already.
- Infiltration from chewing
My guess is that the original inventors got to their remote city and found a suitcase full of ruined clothes.
The old adage is: Invention is Mother Of Necessity
I guessing the same is true here.
What Possible Benefits Could There Be?
Here is the list we’ve compiled after research:
- Convenience for business travel
- Convenience for vacation travel (backpacking, camping, hiking)
- Green Benefits (tubes last longer in land fills)
- Infiltration of teeth cracks and crevices
- Less mess (ever seen a kids sinks covered in toothpaste remains?)
We’ve talked about a couple of these. But, some are worth delving into a little more.
While researching the recycling abilities of toothpaste tubes, I had originally assumed you just couldn’t recycle them. But, the folk at Earth911 seem to disagree.
The folks at Earth911 do agree that not all local recycling plans can accept toothpaste tubes. And, that it is often difficult to know if the toothpaste you use is made of materials that your local recycling program can accept.
Some local recycling programs do accept toothpaste tubes. And even when they don’t you can still do you’re part by bundling up your tubes (and other similar items) up and shipping them to the TerraCycle program that has teamed up with Colgate to provide free shipping of your oral recyclables.
This YouTube video describes how you can participate in the TerraCycle program. The program includes free shipping and for every package you send, you earn TerraPoints that can be used contribute to the non-profit organisation or school of your choice.
Best Chewable Toothpaste
Now that we have provided the reasons you might (or might not) want to buy toothpaste tablets, lets get down to the business of identifying the best chewable toothpaste to get (and why).
Not only does this product provide a great dry alternative to toothpaste tablets, it provides other features that move this product to the top of this list:
- Can be used on skin to keep it clean and fresh
- Helps with digestion
- Treats bug bites
- Treats skin wounds
- Whitens teeth
- Can offset accidental poisoning (see your doctor immediately if this happens)
- Treats hair
But, the reason we’ve moved this to the top of the list is that over 1,000 reviews have been written for this product on Amazon. And, an incredibly high number of the reviews are positive.
Only a very small handful of the reviews gave either 1 or 2 stars out of 5. We read them all (didn’t take long). And, one of them was a glowing review where the person obviously didn’t understand the rating system.
The Archtek tablets provides all of the benefits that we describe in the article above.
The folks at Archtek also have the environment in mind because the bottle that the tablets are offered in is recycling materials. So, be sure to join in with Archtek philosophy to keep from filling our landfills by making sure you recycle the bottle once it’s empty.
Archtek is located in Colorado in the United States. So, if you live in the US and are looking to support a local company, this might be the company for you.
Some users of the Archtek tablets thought that half of a tablet might be enough. So, if you want to save some money, you can get a sharp knife and double your supply by halfing each tablet.
If you are looking to try a toothpaste tablet product, this might be the product for you, as it is much less expensive than many of the other products in this category.
The Spacepaste claim to fame is in their patented ExoCyan® Cran (cranberry extract) ingredient. This special ingredient is supposed to solve world hunger.
Ok. Maybe not. But, the way the manufacturer raves about this ingredient, you might think it could challenge for a Pulitzer.
There were not a lot of reviews for this product. So, either it is new to the game, or the Space theme just isn’t catching on.
But, we decided to include it over several others because of two main reasons:
- Teeth Whitening
The first reason was very unique to us. This product include caffeine to help you wake up in the morning.
Almost as a coffee substitute.
I suppose if white teeth is your goal, and you use this product as an alternative to a jolt of some form of strong coffee, then you are basically killing two birds with one stone.
If you avoid the coffee, you help to avoid a very effective teeth staining liquid.
And, by using the Pearl Tabs, you add on top of the caffeine, the teeth whitening from the strawberry powder.
The only part that didn’t make any sense to us, were the directions that said “Break a tiny piece up and place on teeth. Moisten toothbrush and brush away, rinse out mouth when done”.
If you are rinsing out your mouth, how to you get the caffeine into your system? I suppose there might be some absorption via the blood vessels in your mouth. But, that seems like a fairly ineffective delivery system. But, maybe others disagree?
Since you seem to be looking at toothpastes, we wanted to also mention these other articles that might be of interest:
- Oxygenated Toothpaste
- Remineralizing Toothpaste
- Toothpaste Without Triclosan
- Toothpaste Without Sodium Lauryl Sulfate
- Non Abrasive Toothpaste

Chewable Toothpaste Conclusions
Hopefully you are not too disappointed that our Best Chewable Toothpaste product isn’t really a tablet.
But, we really feel like we couldn’t promote the toothpaste tablet products we found over the Charcoal powder product that we ended up choosing as the Best Alternate Product for Chewable Toothpaste.
